Old Friends

Louie
Louie came to us as a stray, abandoned in Berwick. He had a large cancerous tumor on the side of his head. It also appeared that at one time he was left with a collar, too small, embedded in his neck which must have been painfully removed, leaving a scar. We can only imagine what his life was like before he came to us.
We kept Louie for about three months. He was a very sweet, loving, and happy dog. We enjoyed every day that we got to spend with him and only wish we had been able to rescue him sooner so that we could have found him a great home and perhaps get the cancer treated sooner so that he could have lived longer. Unfortunately, the tumor was too large and too involved.
We thank everyone who gave donations to the cost of care for Louie.

Gracie
_"Gracie" was an older kitty who came to us as a stray in late 2009. A
Berwick resident thought they saw her get hit by car. And though the
veterinary exam suggests that did not happen, they did assess her as
being very elderly. She was very sweet and very quiet. She was a little
mascot for us here at The Critter Barn until her health no longer
allowed her to live comfortably and she will be very missed by everyone
that had the pleasure of knowing her. We were not able to find a willing
home for Gracie and it is the efforts and donations of other that help
us with situations like Gracie's.
